Rev Up for 5th Annual Downtown Stillwater Car Show
By Tourism Industry Partner
(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Sept. 10, 2011) — Exhibitors are encouraged to register for the 5th Annual Downtown Stillwater Car show scheduled for Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1. Classic, modified and new cars, trucks and motorcycles are invited to participate and compete in their categories.
“This show has grown so much over the past five years,” said Angela McLaughlin, City of Stillwater Business Improvement District coordinator. “We are expecting over 175 entries with car enthusiasts coming from all over the state to enjoy the afternoon in Downtown Stillwater."
The show is held rain or shine on Main Street between 6th and 12 Avenues in Downtown Stillwater. The show kicks off with a cruise-in from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, and the show is Saturday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"Area residents really enjoy this event, in part, because it is on Main Street. They can enjoy the car show and stop in all the shops and restaurants," said McLaughlin.
The 2010 Best of Show was awarded to a 1954 Chevy owned by Bruce and Judy Ricks of Sapulpa, and the popular Ladies Choice Award was awarded to 2005 full custom motorcycle owned by Max Dunigan of Bristow.
Proceeds from the 50/50 drawing will be donated to the Scott A. Hagerty Scholarship Fund. Oklahoma State University graduate and Stillwater native Maj. Hagert was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on June 3, 2008. The scholarship fund benefits Army ROTC students enrolled in the program.
Entry forms for this year’s car show can be found online at www.stillwatercarshow.com or by contacting McLaughlin at (405) 742-8359 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Local businesses and organizations interested in sponsoring the show may also contact her for more information.
