Toy Museum Offers Summer Reading Program

Art and reading go hand in hand at the Toy & Action Figure Museum. Join us for the museum’s Summer Arts & Reading Program cosponsored by the Nora Sparks Warren Public Library and the Toy & Action Figure Museum.
Every Wednesday morning from 11am to 12 noon through the month of July and the first two weeks of August, representatives from the library and authors will be reading from selected books and artists will be on hand for special art projects related to that day's readings.
July 6 – Author Una Belle Townsend and her Puppet, Grady, reading their book“Grady’s in the Silo” and Cow Puppet Making to follow.
July 13 – Artist and Storyteller, Mary Francis demonstrates and teaches Chinese Calligraphy with her story of a Very Clever Horse. Children learn 15 Chinese characters during this one-hour session.
July 20 – Librarian reads the book“Dogs.” Afterwards, Artist and Curator Kevin Stark teaches an Art Lesson on Drawing Dogs
July 27 – Librarian reads the book “Bugs.” Museum staff and volunteers assist children in sculpting and creating Clay Bugs.
August 4 - Mr. Puppet (ventriloquists, puppeteer, humorist and educator) performs his comical routine for children age 3 – 9.
August 10 – Librarian reads “I Know a Shy Fellow Who Swallowed a Cello” book while museum staff and volunteers assist children in creating their own musical instruments.
The focused age group is children ages 3 to 9, but all children (and adults) are welcome. Children 9 and under are free with a paid adult from 10am to 11am each day of the reading/arts program.
Plan a visit to the Toy & Action Figure Museum to see the newest displays on Green Lantern, Cars 2, The Mighty Thor and an exhibit on how action figures are designed. Also, check out the NEWLY REMODELED Play and Dress Up Area! It's a superhero's secret headquarters! There are also lots of new toys in the famous "Bedroom Diorama" as well as new items available in the gift shop and some cool newly designed museum logo merchandise! Come see what's new at the museum!
The museum is open Memorial Day to Labor Day – Monday – Thursday 10 – 5, Friday and Saturday 10 – 7 and Sunday 1 – 5. Admission is $6 per person plus tax with group rates, senior and military discounts available. Please call 405 238 6300 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
