“We were thrilled to receive the invitation to perform at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame for the first time. The OMHOF has as its mission to showcase the rich and diverse musical history of our state, and Tulsa Opera, with its 63-year history is proud to be part of Oklahoma’s rich musical history,” said Kostis Protopapas, artistic director of Tulsa Opera. “We hope that our audience may include people who will be hearing opera for the first time!”
For more than six decades, Tulsa Opera has been a nationally renowned producer of the finest in grand opera and the region’s only professional opera company. The Studio Artist program is a music education initiative of the Tulsa Opera Department of Education and Outreach. The studio artists are visiting opera singers training with the artistic staff of the Tulsa Opera. This program is made possible through community grants and donations.
Founded in 1948, Tulsa Opera is the 17th oldest opera company in North America, produces three grand operas each season, and has been named one of America’s top 10 favorite regional opera companies by Opera News magazine.
Tulsa Opera reexamines Mozart’s monumental dark comedy – Don Giovanni- the legend of Don Juan, the world’s most notorious womanizer on February 19, 25 and 27, 2011. Norma, an imaginative new production of Bellini’s masterpiece receives her long-overdue company premiere on April 30, May 6 and 8, 2011.
