Tulsa, OK – October 24, 2011 -- Choosing the perfect Halloween costume can be tough, whether to be a pretty princess or a wicked witch, but the best place to take your family for trick-or-treating is a no-brainer with the Tulsa Zoo’s 22nd Annual HallowZOOeen, Oct 27-31 from 6:30-8:30pm each evening. The Tulsa Zoo will put on a costume of its own this Halloween as it transforms into a spooky but not-too-scary trick-or-treating wonderland.  This spooktacular fundraising event runs for five days, so you can start trick-or-treating early, or make it your Halloween evening destination.

HallowZOOeen 2011 is bringing back some treasured treats with Walgreen’s “Royal Castle” and American Airlines “Pirate Island”. The Walgreen’s Royal Castle summons all Green Country royalty to join the Tulsa Zoo for a splendid to-do where your princess (or prince charming!) can meet the Walgreen’s Princesses, be amused with royal court activities and even waltz around the Walgreen’s Ballroom.

Perhaps a sailor’s life suits thee more? Then chart yer course for American Airlines “Pirate Island” for a swashbuckling adventure with the American Airlines Pirates.  Every “buoy” and “ghoul” will enjoy the one-of-a-kind Pirate Ship, where seaworthy sprouts can take the helm.

No HallowZOOeen is complete without a tour through the American Airlines Haunted House or a spin on the Haunted Train or cross-eyed carousel. Kids of all ages will enjoy the Community Care “Pumpkin Patch Playroom”, with a Hay Maze, pumpkin decorating and carnival games.

Of course the Tulsa Zoo hasn’t forgotten about the CANDY!  Corporate-sponsored Goblin Stops line the zoo to provide a safe trick-or-treating environment where your kiddos can fill up their goodie bags – and with over 3 tons of candy, there will be plenty of treats!

This is a very popular event, with more than 15,000 guests, so get advance tickets TODAY and skip the lines!  Tickets can be purchased online or at the Tulsa Zoo daily from 9am-5pm.  The cost for admission is $8 for the general public, $7 for Zoo Friends members.  Children 1 and under are free if not trick-or-treating.  Premium parking is available for only $5. The Haunted Train Ride is back with spooky (but not too scary!) surprises around every turn for only $4, and you can also take a spin on the Cross-Eyed Carousel for only $1.  HallowZOOeen families can explore Walgreen's Royal Castle, American Airlines Pirate Island and Haunted House, and the Community Care Pumpkin Patch Playroom FREE with HallowZOOeen admision!

For more than 20 years, HallowZOOeen has been an important fundraiser to help build a better zoo and thousands of families consider Tulsa Zoo’s event as a safe alternative for Halloween fun. So bring your family to trick-or-treat in the wildest neighborhood in town at the Tulsa Zoo’s HallowZOOeen!

HallowZOOeen 2011 would not be possible without our gracious sponsors: American Airlines, Walgreens, Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Company, CommunityCare, Subway Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, Sonic, BP Pipeline, QuikTrip, Whirlpool, Helmerich and Payne, Spirit AeroSystems and Three Points Karate.
