TULSA, OK, July 11, 2011 – Hit the lanes for a great cause Sunday, July 24th as the Tulsa Zoo’s zookeeper association hosts the 9th year of Bowling for Rhinos at Sheridan Lanes. Come see the real ‘kingpins’ of the Tulsa Zoo, white rhinos Jeannie and Buzby, knock down some pins as we change their grassy plains into bowling lanes for their own bowling demonstration THURSDAY, JULY 14 at 10:00 a.m. to kick off Bowling for Rhinos! The Tulsa Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) hosts this annual event and has raised $76,000 for rhino conservation since 2003. This nationwide event raised $250,000 last year alone! With registration of only $25, bowlers will receive an event t-shirt, three games of bowling, shoe rental, free food and chances to win prizes. 100% of the proceeds from this unique event go directly to help rhinos and their diverse ecosystems in Africa and Indonesia. Rhinos have lived on earth for over 50 million years – but whether they survive the next 50 years is very real concern. Today only 5 rhino species exist when once there were over 100, and unfortunately, humans are the reason populations and habitats are dwindling. The Tulsa AAZK chapter has taken up the cause, along with 60 other chapters across the nation, and Bowling for Rhinos is a fun way to bring attention to a serious issue. So join the fun Sunday, July 24 at Sheridan Lanes, 3121 South Sheridan Road, with registration starting at 5:00 p.m. and bowling at 6:00 p.m. There will be a silent auction including fun zoo items, like animal art, and even face painting. Put together a team, roll on your own, or just hang out and enjoy the fun! Registration forms can be found online at www.tulsazoo.org or www.tulsaazk.org. Can’t make the event, but still want to support? Donations are always accepted! Contact the Tulsa AAZK Chapter at BFRtulsa@sbcglobal.net or 669- 6882. Definitely don’t miss Jeannie and Buzby strut their stuff at the Tulsa Zoo for a demonstration sure to bowl you over, THURSDAY, JULY 14 at 10:00 a.m. and be sure to register soon - lanes are filling up quick! - ### - Media Contact: Angela Evans, 918-669-6612
