Visions Art Gallery Exhibits the Work of Native Oklahoman, Angilee Wilkerson.
By Tourism Industry Partner
Oklahoma City, OK, October 20th, 2011: Visions Art Gallery is proud to announce its newest exhibit, “re:Collect / Red Dirt Roots” by native Oklahoman Angilee Wilkerson, will be on display starting November 4th and will run through November 30th.
“re:Collect / Red Dirt Roots” is a series of images examining the memory and identity of Wilkerson’s Red Dirt Roots. Her use of double exposures provides a ethereal glimpse of one family’s Oklahoma heritage in a manner both haunting and beautiful.
Angilee Wilkerson lives in Denton Texas and holds an M.F.A. in Photography. She is an artist, university instructor, and professional editorial photographer. Her work frequently examines memory and identity, family narratives, and the nature of alteration through landscape and the collection of earth objects. Angilee’s greatest source of inspiration comes from wandering, camera in hand, through the prairie, woods, thickets and flood plains of the North Texas and Southern Oklahoma landscapes.
Wilkerson’s work has been recognized and honored by jurors from The New Museum of Contemporary Art, NY; The Guggenheim Museum, NY; The George Eastman Museum of Photography and Film, NY; SPE, Aperture Magazine; and many others. In additions, her photographs have been featured in many publications, including The Photo Review; Photo District News, Photographer’s Forum, and The Wall Street Journal. Angilee has led photography workshops for The Dallas Museum of Art, The Arlington Museum of Art, The School of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, The Texas Photographic Society and the Girl Scouts of America.
Visions Art Gallery is a Fine Art Photography Gallery located in the heart of the Historic Paseo Arts District. Visions is open Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 6PM and Sunday 10AM to 5PM. Admission is free.
