Western Fall Fest Scheduled

The third weekend in September Duncan will be hosting “Western Fall Fest” (September 16th – 18th, 2011). Come enjoy all the following events: the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center’s annual Western Spirit Celebration, a CTAC LIVE concert by “Asleep at the Wheel”, the Chisholm Trail Book Festival, Duncan AMBUCS - 4th Annual “Wine’N on the Chisholm Trail” and Stitching Memories Guild is presenting a Holiday Festival and Sew-cial.
The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center’s (1000 Chisholm Trail Parkway) annual Western Sprit Celebration is a 2½ day celebration of the Chisholm Trail and the cowboy way of life. Events include chuck wagons and food, a horse-pulling contest, cow-paddy bingo, a longhorn cattle drive, Dutch oven and cowboy coffee demonstrations, western art, cowboy poetry, and a western swing dance on the Friday night in front of the largest bronze statue dedicated to The Chisholm Trail, as well as cowboy church on the Sunday. This event is free, with a wonderful family atmosphere.
September 17, 2011 @ 7:30pm “Asleep at the Wheel” will be in concert @ the Simmons Center’s Jack A Maurer Convention Center’s Theatre (800 Chisholm Trail Parkway). The famed western-swing, boogie, and roots-music outfit has been around for nearly 40 years, turning out an incredible 25+ albums. Join the fun for $20 18yrs+ or $10 for 17yrs and younger. Limited seating of 750 for the one night performance.
Duncan AMBUCS presents its 4th Annual “Wine’N on the Chisholm Trail” featuring Oklahoma wineries, food, vendors and entertainment at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center(1000 Chisholm Trail Parkway). It will begin Friday, September 16th at 5-9pm and Saturday, September 17th from noon to 7:00pm at CTHC. Must be 21 yrs or older.
September 17, 2011 @ 10am – 4pm the Chisholm Trail Book Festival will be at the Simmons Center (800 Chisholm Trail Parkway). The Festival gives a chance to meet 75+ authors to discuss books, attend workshops on writing for kids to adults, participate in reading corners and network with published authors. The Duncan Public Library will have a kids' corner and an e-book workshop. Admission is free.
Also on September 17, 2011 @ 10am – 5pm Stitching Memories is presenting its first Holiday Festival and Sew-cial. There will demonstrations, food, a quilt raffle give-away, a quilt auction and many quilted items for all. The quilted items will be for all seasons, holidays and special events. Join us for a day of fun out at the Stephens County Fair and Expo Center @ 2002 South 13th Street Duncan.
