Bat —Wing-Ding” is two days full of games, exhibits, programs and discussions based on those small flying mammals that are so mysterious to us all. See live bats, use your own observation skills and see if you can spot bats in their daytime roosts, accompany bat professionals into the cavern to mist net bats just as researchers do, play games and do puzzles that relate back to bat facts and view Alabaster Caverns’ "Bats…Bats…Bats; Oklahoma’s Nightlife" traveling exhibit. All activities related to the —Wing-Ding” are free to the public.

DAILY AGENDA: 9am-5pm (IN ODWC TRAILER)
—BATS, BATS, BATS: OKLAHOMA’S NIGHTLIFE” exhibit: You will be able to view live bats, bat skeletons, skulls, instruments used by researchers, bat-inspired products, and much, much more.

(EXHIBIT TENT #1): MAKE YOUR BAT FACE: Color and cut-out your very own bat face mask that you can take with you. BAT WORD SEARCH (EASY-HARD): A word search game based on various things relating to bats. BAT CROSSWORD PUZZLE (EASY-HARD): A crossword puzzle based on various things related to bats.

(EXHIBIT TENT #2): FEED THE BAT: A beanbag toss-type game where you have to toss insects into the bat’s open mouth. FEED THE BAT-2 PERSON: A game where people play the role of a bat and an insect; the insect trying to get to the streetlamp while the bat is trying to catch the insect.

(LOWER PICNIC AREA): BE A BAT DETECTIVE (N.C.I.S. – NATIONAL CHIROPTERAN IDENTIFICATION SOCIETY): Try to find all the bats as they sleep in their normal daytime roosts. Those that find them all will become an official bat detective!

(CLUBHOUSE SHELTER) 9am-5pm: "OH, WHAT A WEB WE WEAVE…” Try to match up four aspects of a bats’ world; its color, its roost, the prey it hunts and the predators that hunt the bat. HELP JUDGE OUR —BAT’S POSTER AND POEM” CONTEST.

10:30am: BATS OF OKLAHOMA PROGRAM

An introduction into the bat’s world, dispelling rumors and answering questions.

(CAVERN OPENING)
8:30pm: MIST NETTING IN CAVERN OPENING: Net bats as they emerge from Alabaster Caverns’ proper just as researchers do.

(ALABASTER CAVERNS AREA)
10:30pm ACOUSTIC BAT WALK (WEATHER PERMITTING): Using an ultra-sonic bat detector, listen as the bats feed just feet above your heads.
