Lone Mountain is part of the Gloss Mountains in northwestern Oklahoma.  If you visit on a sunny day at the right time, you can see the sunlight sparkling on the selenite crystals that cover much of the surface of the Gloss Mountains.  Take a scenic drive on Highway 412 out west of Fairview and experience these magnificent views.

The rugged red buttes of the Gloss Mountains rise majestically from the plains as you drive along Highway 412 near Fairview.  Also known as the Glass Mountains, these mountains glisten in the sunlight due to a high concentration of selenite crystals.
The Gloss Mountains near Fairview are rugged red mesas covered with selenite crystals that cause them to sparkle in the sunlight.  The mountains can be viewed from the scenic section of Highway 412, or you can stop at the small state park area and hike.
