The museum collects, preserves and interprets history of the Cherokee Outlet area of northern Oklahoma with emphasis on rural life and rural communities. Vignettes offer a look at family life, a general store, kitchen, music room and offices of a doctor, dentist and former Governor Henry S. Johnston. Farm implements are on display in a separate building. Picnic areas and nature trails are available. Rose Hill School is also located on the museum grounds. The one-room school house hosts living history programs for school children Sept-Dec and Jan-May.
