| Territorial Christmas Celebration | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This month-long celebration, which is kicked off every year following the Thanksgiving holiday, includes a variety of events, most notably, the Victorian Walk - two nights during the holiday season when many local citizens don Victorian dress and walk the beautifully lit and decorated streets interacting with guests and celebrants. Special holiday entertainment can be found including candlelit trolley tours, carriage rides, decorated Christmas tree display, Victorian holiday home tours and special productions at the Pollard Theatre and the Double Stop Fiddle Shop and Music Hall. Opening night ceremonies begin with the Lighted Christmas Parade and the Territorial Governor's election. The Victorian Christmas Walk will occur on December 13th and December 20th this year. Scenes from the Victorian Christmas Walk include carolers, peanut vendors, and over sixty decorated store windows with living exhibits depicting 19th century Guthrie. "A Territorial Christmas Carol" is perennial favorite production of Pollard Theatre telling Dickens' familiar tale of Christmas redemption with a twist - it's set in territorial Oklahoma. The Victorian Walks are free to the public, but special events such as "A Territorial Christmas Carol," candlelit trolley tours and Double Stop Music Hall productions do have a admission fees.
