*Recreational Trail Program
The Recreational Trail Program (RTP) is a state-administered, federal-aid program managed through the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and the Federal Highway Administration. Many trail projects throughout the state have been funded through the RTP. Funding for the State Trails Guide was also provided through the RTP. Web site: http://www.otrd.state.ok.us/rd/

 

4x4 Trails

Map

1. BEAVER: Beaver Dunes State Park* (EXPERT)
Offers sand dune riding for 4x4 vehicles, motorcycles, dune buggies and ATVs.
LOCATION: 1 mile N of Beaver on US-270.
RIDING AREA: 360 acres
REQUIREMENTS: Vehicles must have a roll bar sufficient to support weight of vehicle, a 10-foot whip, 6” x 12” flag (bright red or orange, no lettering) attached within 10” of tip of whip, and seat belts for each passenger.

2. WAYNOKA: Little Sahara State Park* (EXPERT)
Rugged sand dune terrain — dunes range from 25-75 ft. high — great for 4x4, motorcycle and ATV enthusiasts.
LOCATION: 4 miles S of Waynoka on SH-281.
RIDING AREA: 1,790 acres
REQUIREMENTS: Vehicles must have a roll bar sufficient to support weight of vehicle, a 10-foot whip, 6” x 12” flag (bright red or orange, no lettering) attached within 10” of tip of whip, and seat belts for each passenger.

3. MUSKOGEE: Gruber Recreation Area* (EASY, ADVANCED, EXPERT)
Area is owned by Muskogee County and managed by the Gruber Recreation Trust Authority.
LOCATION: 3 miles N of Braggs on W side of SH-10.
RIDING AREA: 400 acres
REQUIREMENTS: Vehicles must have a roll bar sufficient to support weight of vehicle, and seat belts for each passenger.

4. CLAYTON AREA (EASY, ADVANCED, EXPERT)
Forest filled with off-road trails suited for every vehicle type. Public and private off-road areas offer enough trails to last for several weeks of wheeling.
LOCATION: In SE Oklahoma off SH-271.
RIDING AREA: Thousands of acres
REQUIREMENTS: Vehicles must have a roll bar sufficient to support weight of vehicle, and seat belts for each passenger.

5. DISNEY (EASY, ADVANCED, EXPERT)
Some of the best rock crawling in the country, a nationally recognized destination for four-wheelers.
LOCATION: In NE Oklahoma, approximately 1 hour from Tulsa, immediately below the Grand Lake Dam.
TRAIL INFO:
River Run • 2+ (deep mud possible)
Ho Chi Mihn • Forward 4, Backward 4.5
Cave Trail • Forward 3.5, Backward 4.5
Extension • Forward 4, Backward 5
Yeller Monster • Forward 4, Backward 4.5
Bypass • As Exit 2, As Entrance 3
Hogan's Revenge • Forward 4, Backward 5.5
REQUIREMENTS: Vehicles must have a roll bar sufficient to support weight of vehicle, and seat belts for each passenger.
(CAMPGROUND, CABINS, PICNIC AREA, RESTROOMS)

6. MANNFORD: White Water Park (EASY, ADVANCED, EXPERT)
LOCATION: West of Tulsa on Keystone Lake, off SH-412.
RIDING AREA: 80 acres
TRAIL INFO: Mostly sand; closes while bald eagles visit the area.
REQUIREMENTS: Vehicles must have a roll bar sufficient to support weight of vehicle, and seat belts for each passenger.
