Nostalgia at its best on the way to Guymon, OK

Take a trip back in the time where ice cream socials, spelling bees, local vaudeville shows and a Sunday afternoon drive where the activities enjoyed by families.


OLD TIME FUN, NOSTALGIA AT ITS BEST

The joy about this tour is that it can be worked coming in to Guymon in any direction. This tour will be bringing a group in from the north. But, if you have a group that will be coming in from the south, east, or west I can work with other towns to have Day 1 events on your way to Guymon. Day 4 events can also be expanded to include a big band evening (DJ) or such on your way from Guymon.



DAY 1

Noon Arrive Cimarron, Kansas
Lunch with the Wheat Lady ($10 per person)
2:00 p.m. Depart Cimarron
2:30 p.m. Arrive Dodge City
Tour Front Street ($6.50 per person)
4:00 p.m. Spelling bee with the bus group in the old school house
4:30 p.m. Check in to the motel, Dodge City
6:30 p.m. Depart for Marchel Ranch
Chuckwagon dinner and show ($25 per person)
Overnight in Dodge City, Kansas

DAY 2

8:30 a.m. Depart Dodge City
10:00 a.m. Arrive Rosston, Oklahoma
Buggy rides (low wagon, too) ($50 for group)
Horseshoe competition
Small cowboy art gallery tour
Noon Outdoor lunch cooked over the fire by cowboys ($12 per person
A little cowboy poetry while sitting down for the meal ($50 group)
1:30 p.m. Depart Rosston
2:00 p.m. Arrive Beaver
Saddlemaker’s shop tour ($50 group)
3:00 p.m. Ice Cream Social at Beaver State Park ($100 group)
Gorgeous setting with the sand dunes, lake, and bridge
4:30 p.m. Depart Beaver
5:30 p.m. German supper in Hooker, Oklahoma ($12 per person)
Barber hop Quartet ($200)
7:30 p.m. Depart Hooker
8:00 p.m. Arrive Guymon, motel check-in

DAY 3

9:30 a.m. Depart Guymon
10:00 a.m. Arrive Oslo Community for an afternoon at the "Cathedral on the Plains"
Quilting
Music on the pipe organ and with harp ($50 group)
The organ is a 1,900+ tracker pipe organ
Hardanger demonstrations ($50 entire group)
Hardanger is a Scandinavian needlepoint that is not commonly
done today because of the intricate work that it entails
Lefsa cooking demonstrations ($50 entire group)
Lefsa is a typical Norwegian food, comparable to a potato
Tortilla and served with most meals
Noon Norwegian lunch ($10 per person)
Usually pork, potatoes, green beans, flat bread, red cabbage and
A delicious dessert, all cooked by the best cook in Oslo and
Served by her daughters and granddaughters
1:30 p.m. Depart Oslo for the old afternoon country drive
Classic cars will pick the people up for a "parade" back in to town
(3 people per car, $5 each person)
2:30 p.m. Arrive in Guymon for a short siesta at the motel
3:30 p.m. Feedlot tour OR Downtown Merchant Poker (shopping) OR No Man’s
Land Museum OR Square Dance Lessons
5:00 p.m. Box Social at the park ($12 per person) a box is made and simply
decorated with the meal in it; we put the name of each woman in
the group on "her" box; the men are given an envelope with play
money in it that they are allowed to bid on the boxes with; some of
the men have lots of money, some very little; we will have men
enough to equal the number of women in the group; the bidding
begins when a man buys a box, he eats with the person whose box
that is.
Entertainment by the Mexican Folklorico Dancers ($100 entire group) OR
Square Dancers ($100 group)
Fishing is an option at the park; there are also paddle boats $3 a
half hour, a miniature train is $50 for the entire group for an hour
7:00 p.m. Depart the park to motel

DAY 4

Depart for Guymon
This is a personalized tour for you & your group. The Guymon Tourism office will tailor this tour depending on your area of origin and the cost of the tour will be totaled as we build your customized tour.
