Tillman County, located in southwestern Oklahoma, was created at statehood in 1907. Early explorers in the area included Randolph B. Marcy, who led an expedition in search of the headwaters of the Red River in 1852. In 1901, the first railroad was built in the county. The St. Louis and San Francisco Railway connected Tillman County to Texas near Davidson. In Frederick, the Pioneer Heritage Townsite Center features restored buildings from the 1920s, while Lake Frederick offers campsites, fishing and hiking.
