Named for U.S. Senator John A. Logan of Illinois, Logan County is located in north-central Oklahoma. The Kansas Southern Railway was the first railroad in Logan County and was built prior to 1889. At statehood in 1907, Guthrie was established as Oklahoma’s capital, but in 1910, the capital was moved to Oklahoma City.
Take a tour of Guthrie and enjoy the town's well-preserved Victorian architecture along with its history. The Oklahoma Territorial Museum in Guthrie houses artifacts from the 1889 Land Run and exhibits of homesteader life in the late 1800s. Liberty Lake near Guthrie offers campsites, fishing and other activities. In Crescent, the Frontier Country Historical Museum features historical exhibits of Logan County and Crescent, as well as artifacts from the 1889 Land Run and pioneers.
