Located in northeastern Oklahoma, Delaware County was created at statehood in 1907. The county is named after the Delaware tribe that lived in the area in the mid-1800s. Construction of two lakes in the early and mid-1900s changed the landscape of Delaware County while providing opportunities for tourism and recreation in the area. Today, visitors enjoy everything from swimming to water sports on Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees and Lake Eucha. Camping, fishing, RV sites and boat ramps are available at Honey Creek and Bernice Areas of Grand Lake State Park, while nearby Grove is home to the Har-Ber Village Museum, a replica village featuring homes filled with an astonishing variety of antiques.

In 2000, census records showed 37,077 people living in Delaware County.
