Lawton Chautauqua
Jun 21, 2022 - Jun 25, 2022
Continuing a centuries-old tradition of traveling education groups in the 19th and early 20th century United States, Lawton Chautauqua presents "Surviving the Sixties: Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll." Make sure to join this year's Chautauqua to see a variety of historical enactments, workshops, informal discussions and book reviews highlighting this challenging decade. Each evening, a different scholar gives a presentation in character followed by a Q&A session with the audience, first in character, then as a scholar. This year's Chautauqua characters include poet Allen Ginsberg, writer Christopher Isherwood, singer Cass Elliot, psychologist Timothy Leary and Beatles legend John Lennon.
Get ready for this exciting event by participating in monthly book reviews at 7pm on the second Wednesday of each month.
