Located in what was once the Will Rogers Library, the Claremore Museum of History brings the town's past to life. The museum showcases famous people from Claremore, as well as the old downtown area and historic artifacts. A mixture of technology and cherished memories, the Claremore Museum of History has something for everyone and promotes local businesses, Route 66 and other attractions in the area.

It holds the Lynn Riggs Memorial Exhibit about the playwright behind "Green Grow the Lilacs," which became the famous musical "Oklahoma!" Come to the Lynn Riggs Memorial Exhibit in the Claremore Museum of History to see photographs and information about him including a collection of personal items, his poetry, plays and items related to "Oklahoma!" Other memorabilia include the original "Surrey with the Fringe on Top" from the Broadway musical and Laurey's honeymoon dress from the movie "Oklahoma!"

See the museum's Radium Water Exhibit. Radium water first made Claremore famous world-wide thanks in part to the town's very own Will Rogers and by word-of-mouth from all the satisfied customers. The Patti Page exhibit tells about the singer's fascinating life and features one of her beautiful gowns, a gold record and more.

You can also see an exhibit about Claremore astronaut Stuart Roosa, the Command Module Pilot for Apollo 14, and some of the artifacts he took with him on this historic mission to the Moon. The recently completed Early History of Claremore exhibit begins with the history of our early local Native American tribes and features some wonderful Osage and Cherokee artifacts.

Whether you are a long time Claremore resident or a first time visitor to the city, there is something for everyone at this wonderful museum.
