Stroll through the Oklahoma Baptist University campus and admire the rich variety of unique trees and shrubs. Among the irrigated, mulched and tagged trees growing on the 226-acre campus, you'll find a Netleaf Oak, Turbinella Oak, and an American Elm that is a seedling of the Survivor Tree from the Oklahoma City bombing. Take a rest under the Crow Pillow Tree and admire the uncommon beauty of Tree Lilac, Persian Parrot, Tamarix and a Seaside Alder. OBU’s collection also includes a Weeping Bald Cypress, Giant Leafed Redbud, Contorted Filbert and William Penn Barberries. From a desert-region chitalpa to a redwood, this arboretum takes you on a tour of some of the nation's most beautiful trees.  

Beginning with 50 different species in an area between the university’s first campus building that opened in 1915, Shawnee Hall, and the main administrative building, Thurmond Hall, the Oklahoma Baptist University Arboretum was established in 2002. This level-II accredited arboretum has expanded to include the entire campus with 134 different species of trees, and a database of more than 300 trees and shrubs is available.
