Dedicated to the City of Enid in 1987 at the Stride Bank Center Plaza, Boomer is a bronze sculpture that depicts the beginning of the Cherokee Strip Land Run of 1893. This piece was Western Hall of Fame artist Harold Holden's first monument. Boomer went on to become the official symbol of the Cherokee Strip in Oklahoma and Kansas by legislative decree and was the symbol used by Holden when he was commissioned by the US Postal Service to produce a commemorative US postage for the Cherokee Strip. 92,000,000 stamps featuring Boomer were released on April 17, 1993.
