The Atkinson Heritage Center was built in 1955 by Midwest City’s founder and developer, W.P. "Bill" Atkinson. This prominent citizen was also a gubernatorial candidate, newspaper publisher and community activist who was instrumental in the development of Tinker Air Force Base and the community that would support it.

The center offers visitors a unique look at the interior of the home exactly as it was when Atkinson and his family lived there, featuring an abundant historical account of the era. The center is now preserved as a historic home and community event center.

The conference room inside the home may be rented for meetings. The pony barn conference room and stall area may be rented for meetings, reunions and parties.
