See where a legend was made by visiting the childhood home of baseball star Mickey Mantle as it proudly stands just north of Commerce. The house is accessible for outside viewing and photo opportunities. Before earning his nickname “The Commerce Comet,” Mantle perfected his switch-hitting with the help of his father and grandfather as pitchers and a tin barn as his backdrop. The barn is still imprinted with dents made from sharpening the skills that made him one of baseball’s greatest players.

Mantle began his 18-year career with the New York Yankees in 1951 at the age of 19. He ended his career after the 1968 season with 536 home runs, seven World Series wins, numerous records, several most valuable player distinctions and more. In 1974, he was honored with an induction to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Take a trip to Mickey Mantle’s Boyhood Home and practice your batting stance in the same place that Mantle perfected his.
