Anyone passing through McAlester will spot the XL Cattle Drive. Established in 2009, this 12-piece sculpture pays homage to prominent Pittsburgh cattlemen Freddie Browne. It features nine Hereford cattle sporting Browne's XL brand, two cowboys and one blue heeler dog. The piece was created by artist Michael Booth of Pendleton, Oregon, and is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and U.S. Highway 270 on the campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College. The XL Cattle Drive was presented to Eastern Oklahoma State College by the Gary and Ruyana Fugitt Foundation.
