At Enid's infamous East Maine Shark Bridge, art is functional with a good sense of humor. This witty mural was created by artist Wayne Shearon to help warn drivers of the 1908 low-clearance bridge. Over the years, numerous semi trucks and high-profile vehicles have failed to heed low-clearance warnings and have seen the tops of their trailers peeled back. The railroad bridge that has inadvertently "eaten" the tops of many trucks has a clearance of only 11 feet 4 inches.

The whimsical shark teeth design is six feet tall by 72 feet wide and was painted on both sides of the bridge in 2013. In 2016, televisions how "Inside Edition" said that the East Maine Bridge is perhaps one of the scariest bridges in America. Stop by this playful Enid mural for your chance to walk through a shark's mouth.
