The Oklahoma Genealogical Society, founded in 1955, brings together people who are interested in genealogical research. The society holds meetings in the Chesapeake Event Center of the Oklahoma History Center on the first Monday of each month at 6pm. These meetings are open to the public, and experienced researchers will be available at 5pm before the meetings to answer research questions. On meeting nights, the Oklahoma Historical Society Research Center stays open until 7:45pm.

The society also offers genealogy workshops, seminars and features guest speakers; topics covered in the past include preserving photographs and documenting family stories.
