Make your way to Lawton for the annual Juneteenth festivities at Patterson Community Center and Elmer Thomas Park. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. These celebrations date back to June 19, 1865, when General Granger landed in Galveston with the news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. As the news spread daily, it became known as Juneteenth.

In keeping with the traditions of Juneteenth, this Lawton event features two days of food, music, activities and entertainment for the whole family. Visit Elmer Thomas Park on Friday night to enjoy live music, line dancing and food trucks. The fun continues on Saturday with a petting zoo and barbecue cook-off at Elmer Thomas Park and live music and inflatables at the Patterson Center.
