Family Kite Flite Day
Celebrate spring by flying kites at Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center, the only prehistoric Native American archaeological site open to the public. Since 1987, Family Kite Flite Day has invited all ages to enjoy a day full of fun and learning. Enjoy watching professional kiters show off their skills, then try flying your own kite. Bring you own or make one with the help of local scouts.
Along with the kite flying, younger kids can have fun in the children’s area. There will be a sandbox where children can dig for shells, jewels, coins and even a special token that can be turned in for a kite. Check out the bubble making area, which always draws a crowd. At 2pm, be sure to take part in a free guided tour of the mounds and enjoy plenty of food vendors throughout the event.
