The annual 89er Days Celebration commemorates the Land Run of 1889 and the birth of Guthrie. On April 22, 1889, tens of thousands of excited Victorian-era land seekers lined the borders of the Unassigned Lands of central Oklahoma in preparation for the first of five land runs in the state.

At noon, the roar of pistols along the borders signaled the start of the mad rush. By nightfall, Guthrie had grown from a sparsely inhabited patch of prairie and timber to a bustling tent city of over 10,000 people. Come celebrate this historical event with fun activities that celebrate this bygone era.

The 89er Celebration kicks off with the annual Chuckwagon Feed. A delicious Western-style dinner, including brisket, beans, cole slaw and all the trimmings will be catered and will include plenty of live music you can tap your toes to. This event gives visitors the opportunity to greet old friends and meet new ones during a night filled with good food, fun auctions and more.

Don't miss the huge carnival themed with rides and games for all skill levels. Get your thrills, enjoy your favorite fair food and watch your family and friends have a great time. The carnival is available through Saturday night.

The 89er Celebration also includes an arts and crafts show featuring numerous displays and items for sale. Browse through an endless variety of booths while shopping for sculptures, baskets, quilts, fine art, pottery, candles, paintings, furniture, craft fabric, jewelry and much more. If all that shopping makes you hungry, have no fear, the 89er Celebration features some of the best carnival food vendors around. Enjoy funnel cakes, corn dogs, roasted nuts, kettle corn, turkey legs and more.

The highlight of this annual celebration is the 89er Parade on Saturday. Secure a spot on the sidelines and witness wagons, buggies, horses, round-up clubs, antique cars and marching bands stroll down the streets of downtown, historic Guthrie.

The family friendly, action-packed 89er Rodeo is held at the fairgrounds arena Saturday night. Featuring a variety of traditional rodeo events including bareback and saddle bronc riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, team roping, barrel racing, bull riding and the popular mutton bustin' event for the kids, the event is fun for the whole family.
