First Day Hike at Greenleaf State Park
Jan 01, 2018
Mark your calendar for a visit to Greenleaf State Park on January 1 for a free guided hike to kick off the New Year. Meet at the Kid's Fishing Pond Gazebo at 10am for an easy, one-mile hike along the paved, accessible Family Fun Trail. Be sure to bring your leashed pet, binoculars, a camera, water and appropriate dress for a cool-weather hike.
Park staff will be guiding the hike, which will pass through an oak-hickory forest and scenic open meadows. Walk a long a wooden deck overlooking the Arkansas River and admire the foundation of what is believed to be a workshop used by the WPA during the construction of the park in the 1930s. Afterwards, join park staff for hot chocolate, coffee and campfire s'mores. Begin the New Year by connecting with the outdoors at this fun state park event.
