A2A Arbuckles to Ardmore Race

The A2A Arbuckles to Ardmore Race's challenging course is famous for its hairpin turns and steep grade through the beautiful Arbuckle Mountains of southern Oklahoma.  The Bar Nothin' Marathon's point-to-point course begins at the historic Turner Falls overlook in the Arbuckle Mountains.  Rolling hills wind downhill, intercepting the half marathon course beginning at the Murray County and Carter County line. The courses continue downhill together through the scenic countryside of the foothills until the marathoners turn east for an out-and-back leg through the award-winning Bar Nothin’ Horse Ranch near Springer.

Marathoners return to Hwy 77 to re-join the half marathoners for the straight stretch into Ardmore, enjoying an overall elevation drop of 538 feet over the first 15.5 miles of the course. A shallow elevation climb begins at mile 16 and continues until runners turn west at mile 20 for a final out-and-back to the lake inside beautiful Ardmore Regional Park.  Save a little energy during the downhill early on, because the gently rolling terrain in the park will feel like mountains at that point in the race.  However, your efforts will be richly rewarded as you finish to the cheers of fans at the 50 yard-line inside nearby Noble Stadium.

The Valero Fast Half Marathon is mostly downhill and mostly straight.  Beginning at the Murray County and Carter County line in the Arbuckle Mountains, the point-to-point course winds downhill through the beauty of the foothills before entering the nine mile straight-away into Ardmore.  Runners will enjoy the 531-foot drop in elevation for the first 8.5 miles of the course, saving energy reserves for the shallow elevation climb at mile 9 into Ardmore. Runners turn east to finish to the music and cheers at the 50 yard-line inside Noble Stadium.

The A2A 5K's starting line begins just north of Noble Stadium inside the Ardmore High School campus. The course continues north on Chickasaw Blvd. before turning west at Dornick Hills Country Club at mile 1. Runners will join the marathon/half marathon course on Hwy 77 before turning east to the finish line. The beauty and ease of this course will appeal to participants of all levels, from experienced runners to walkers enjoying their first event.
