Council Oak Ceremony

The Council Oak Ceremony is a commemoration of the arrival of a faction of Muscogee (Creek) people known as Locv Pokv to Indian Territory. Head to the Creek Nation Council Oak Park in Tulsa for speeches, historical readings, a proclamation from Tulsa's mayor and the rekindling of a ceremonial fire. Afterward, the event will transition to the Tulsa Creek Indian Community for arts and crafts, stickball, a traditional feed and exhibition stomp dance. Attendees include Muscogee (Creek) Nation officials and traditional Muscogee leaders, but all events are free and open to the public.
