In 2005, artist Steven Allen Sewell came to Vinita, Oklahoma to experiment with new mural painting techniques. Sewell came by Animal Health Supply in Vinita and offered to paint the walls of Clint Markham’s store. When Markham agreed, Sewell devised a design, including Markham’s family as inspiration. Sewell sketched Markham’s teenage son, Cale, on the front of Animal Health Supply, applying 3D painting techniques to this segment of the mural. Here, visitors will see Cale on horseback, trying to rope in a steer, which appears to be breaking out of the building. On another portion of the Animal Health Supply building, Sewell created a more tranquil Western scene, with a cowboy on horseback, enjoying the pastel sunset and surrounding cattle.
