Armed Forces Day Celebration
501 NW Ferris Ave
Come out to the Armed Forces Day Celebration in Lawton to honor our men and women in uniform. This free parade, music festival and red dirt barbecue honors the service of our Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, Retirees, Veterans, and their families with nearly ten hours of live music and more. In 2019, the festivities kick off with a parade at 10am, and the night closes out with a concert by Andy Grammar. Admire well-kept automobiles at the car show and judge various barbecue food entries submitted to the People's Choice BBQ Competition.
Billed in years past as the largest Armed Forces Day Parade in the nation, more than 100 participants are set to march in Lawton Fort Sill’s procession. Watch as bands, community and business floats, military officials and veterans unite in tribute to the men and women who have valiantly served our nation. This showing of solidarity helps to renew the community’s support for our local soldiers, as well as soldiers serving abroad.
The Armed Forces Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m., heading west on C Avenue from 6th Street, before turning north on 11th Street. Participants will then head north on Fort Sill Boulevard before ending on the corner of Fort Sill Boulevard and Ferris Avenue.
This family-friendly event also contains ample children's activities to keep the kids entertained. Let them roam free in the bounce houses or rock a new look after paying a visit to the face painting booth. You can even bring the kids over to the magic and comedy show at the Armed Forces Day Music Festival & Red Dirt BBQ. Once the day comes to an end, and taste buds have been fully satisfied with mouthwatering barbecue, take a seat for the grand finale, a massive fireworks show in celebration of those who have served our country.
