Bone Dust Oklahoma Gallery
No visit to Oklahoma City’s Paseo District is complete without a stop at Bone Dust Oklahoma. Tucked away in an upstairs corner of the Avalon building, this unique shop offers an authentic slice of Oklahoma, featuring hand made jewelry, vintage western wear and boots.
Founded in 2006, this pleasantly crowded shop serves as a creative outlet for James Stephens and Jayme Daniel. Roughly half of Bone Dust features Jayme’s carefully curated vintage finds. Reasonable pricing and a fantastic selection of vintage western wear, belts, hats and boots attract cowboys and cowgirls from all over the globe in search of that perfect accessory or total outfit.
In the other half of the shop, hunched over his work stool, you’ll find James, putting finishing touches on his latest creation, classic vinyl spinning on the vintage HiFi. From earrings to cuffs, this craftsman hand carves all the jewelry at Bone Dust. Working with old, discarded materials, like worn leather belts, bone, antler sheds, stone and even prehistoric ivory, James’ work not only reflects the resilience of the Okie spirit, but also symbolizes his and Jayme's personal redemption.
After picking up a treasure or three, take a seat and visit a spell with James and Jayme; more often than not, folks who enter the shop as strangers end up leaving as Bone Dust Cowgirls and Cowboys.
