The Cherokee 4th of July Celebration starts at Cherokee City Park with flag recognition from the local American Legion and Girl Scout troops. It is followed by a tiny tot parade/contest, an unusual pet contest, old fashioned three-legged races, egg toss, bubble gum blowing contest, horseshoes, train rides and water balloons. There will also be hamburgers and hotdogs, as well as free swimming at the community pool. The fun continues at Alfalfa County Fairgrounds at 6pm with the turtle races and a 4th of July raffle, followed by the fireworks presentation at dark.
