Celebrate the life and legacy of MLK alongside the entire family at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration in the Gardens. The Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City hosts a variety of family-friendly activities that honor Dr. King's historic message. Start your morning at the Park House Event Center listening to local hip hop artist Jabee Williams emcee for various speakers and performers, including Andrea Zolicoffer (Ebony Voices), DWe Williams (Ebony Voices), Tierney Eden, Anita Arnold (BLAC) and Kimberly Statum-Francisco (Metropolitan Library System).

Head over to the Crystal Bridge Lobby to enjoy flavorful chicken wings from Hank's food truck, participate in games and t-shirt giveaways from Oklahoma City University's Black Student Association and view an art demonstration by local multidisciplinary visual artist, Jasmine Jones. For only $15, create your own canvas painting of Martin Luther King Jr. alongside Tulsa artist Eddye K. Eddye K will share her expertise and walk you through techniques to improve your brushwork skills using an outline image. You can also opt for storytime with the Metro Library System. Complete your day by watching the “Resilient and Relentless” Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Parade organized by MLK Jr. Parade Coalition.
