Western Heritage Awards

1700 NE 63rd St
Oklahoma City, OK 73111

Come celebrate the west at the Western Heritage Awards. The event was established in 1961 to honor the legacy of western-focused artists for their works in literature, music, film and television. The evening includes the induction of individuals into the Hall of Great Western Performers and the Hall of Great Westerners who made extraordinary contributions toward shaping the rich heritage of the American West. Witness the Chester A. Reynolds Memorial Award presentation, given to an individual for their unwavering commitment to the future of the American West. All award recipients receive the Wrangler, a bronze sculpture of a cowboy on horseback representing an iconic symbol of western determination, persistence, and pride.

Be sure and stick around for an honoree autograph session at the Museum Store, where books, CDs, DVDs and more will be available for purchase and signing. Come back on Saturday for the Western Heritage Awards Panel Discussion at 11am, followed by the Western Heritage Awards ceremony at 6pm. See website for pricing details.

In 2019, Hollywood actor Kevin Costner and musical performer Howard Keel will be inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers. Clark McEntire and George McJunkin will be inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners. Dave Stamey will receive the Chester A. Reynolds Memorial Award, and Michael Martin Murphey will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
