Take in the refreshing floral landscape at the John E. Kirkpatrick Horticulture Center in Oklahoma City. This center contains a full 40 acres of demonstration and display gardens for flowers, fruits and vegetables. Its Tree and Shrub Arboretum even serves as an outdoor classrooms for students and visitors alike. Head over to this American Garden Award-winning horticulture center to enjoy peaceful tours through floral scenery. You can also drop by the year-round OSU-OKC Farmers Market, featuring 100 percent Oklahoma-grown produce, meats, dairy, plants and flowers. As an added bonus, you can play the five-hole public golf course on the grounds.
Visit the Butterfly Garden, designed in the shape of its colorful namesake, and watch moths and butterflies land on fennel and dill as caterpillars crawl on the planted parsley. You can also walk through the Community Garden, open to the public, and see how students and community members have transformed its plots throughout the year. Visitors with disabilities can even stroll through the Sensational Garden, full of varying textures, splashes of sound and fragrant flowers like peppermint and lavender. You can even pay tribute to women who lost their battle against breast cancer in the beautiful pink-filled Path of Life Garden, created to honor their memory.
