Sparrow Hawk Camp
Sparrow Hawk Camp, located near Tahlequah, provides visitors with everything they will need for an exciting and memorable float trip down the beautiful Illinois River in northeastern Oklahoma. All float trips are located in the Sparrow Hawk Primitive Area, known for its high bluffs and scenic remoteness. Sparrow Hawk Camp offers its visitors four different types of flotation devices including canoes, rafts, kayaks and inner tubes. The canoes feature three seats and a backrest. Float trips are available from one to 70 miles; seven to 13 miles is the most popular option. Other trips, including overnight trips, can also be arranged.
The campgrounds at Sparrow Hawk Camp include one mile of riverfront and over 50 acres of camping area. Tent camping is on a first come, first serve basis, but visitors rarely have trouble booking a campsite in this large, well-manicured camping area. Sparrow Hawk Camp features both modern campsites with modern restrooms, showers and electrical hookups and natural campsites with only picnic tables and trash cans. A bunkhouse is also located on-site for overnight guests. The main camping area also features playground equipment including slides, swings, trampolines, a water log roll, volleyball court and more. So, bring your RV or camping gear and set up camp at Sparrow Hawk Camp after a long, peaceful float trip down the Illinois River.
