All Student Cast Brings Vibrancy to Songs -‘The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber’ Comes to OU in April
By Tourism Industry Partner
(Norman, Okla) March 30, 2011— “I have been extremely fortunate to work with a hand-picked, exceedingly talented, young company from all over the University of Oklahoma,” says director Hugh Wooldridge. “These student cast members have brought exciting and vibrant life to these much-loved songs.”
The University of Oklahoma Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts presents a musical extravaganza with The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, conceived and directed by Hugh Wooldridge, at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 14, Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16, and 3 p.m., Sunday, April 17, in the Sharp Concert Hall, located in the Catlett Music Center.
“As we look back over the near 100 year history of special events in our college and the OU Arts District, we believe this extravaganza is truly the biggest and most exciting event ever produced,” says Rich Taylor, Dean of the College of Fine Arts.
Over 350 multi-talented students from all five of the fine arts schools have come together, worked together and will share together some of the most thrilling music of our time.
Teddy Crecelius, School of Music graduate student studying voice and opera performance, says he is looking forward to singing something from one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's lesser known musicals, ‘The Likes of Us.’ The show is a chance for both cast and audience to take a look at his work beyond ‘Cats,’ ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’ ‘Jesus Christ Superstar,’ ‘Evita’ and the other big-name shows.
The sheer scale of the event will be impressive together with some of the most beautiful and most popular music ever written.
