More than $70,000 in prize money will be awarded at the all-day event that celebrates the rich colors and culture of Native Americans


DURANT, OKLAHOMA (November 4, 2011) -- Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma, is hosting the 7th annual Pow Wow on Saturday, November 26, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Choctaw Event Center, located at 3702 Choctaw Road. The annual Pow Wow is a celebration of the rich culture and heritage of the Native American Indians.


Attendees will have the opportunity to experience many aspects of Native American culture and tradition, as vendors will be selling authentic food, arts, crafts, jewelry, novelties, and more. In addition, more than $70,000 in prize money will be awarded to those who participate in the Annual Native American Dance Competition. Lastly, all guests can register to win a free original piece of Native American artwork. Admission to the Pow Wow is free.


The schedule of events is as follows:

·         Dancer Registration: Friday, 11/25 from 5 - 10 p.m. and Saturday, 11/26 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

·         Gourd Dance: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

·         Grand Entry (All Dancers): 12 p.m.

·         Contest: 1 p.m.

·         Break: 5 - 7 p.m.

·         Gourd Dance: 5 - 7 p.m.

·         Grand Entry (All Dancers): 7 p.m.

·         Contest: 8:30 p.m.
