CENTRAL OKLAHOMA – The Lazy E Arena in Guthrie presents the Timed Event Championship of the World March 4-6. The Timed Event Championship is a true test of skill, versatility and endurance. The 2011 event will represent 39 World Champion titles with competitions in heading, calf roping, heeling, steer wrestling and steer roping. For more information or tickets: lazye.com.

The Oklahoma City Zoo opens the new Elephant Habitat March 11. Spanning 9.5 acres, the $13 million dollar habitat includes state-of-the-art creature features and will be home to Asian elephants, Asha and Chandra and their offspring. For more information: okczoo.com.

Oklahoma River Cruises will have a St. Patrick’s Day Cruise on the Oklahoma River March 17. The sunset cruise begins at 5:30 p.m. and will depart from and return to the Regatta Park Landing. Enjoy 90 minutes of cruising along with themed music, hors d'oeuvres and cash bar. Cost is $35 per person and reservations are required. For more information: okrivercruises.com.

Take a tour by lantern light at the Ghosts of Fort Reno Tour March 19 and hear the stories of restless spirits of the old post, along with some of the unsolved mysteries and murders that occurred at Historic Fort Reno, 4 miles west of El Reno. Ghosts of Fort Reno tours are conducted the third Saturday of each month from March to November. For more information: fortreno.org.

The 12th Annual Taste of Yukon is March 24 at the Robertson Activity Center in Yukon and will feature a “taste” of 20 area restaurants. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. enjoy favorites like the Friends of the Park Chocolate Corner and Yukon Mobile Meals Strawberry Crepes. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door.
