It’s a contest of skill and style.  The 3rd Annual Great Price Tower EGGstravaganza is scheduled for Saturday, July 9th at Price Tower Arts Center.  The competition is open to children and adults.

“This is a fun event for kids of all ages,” said Debra Woodall, marketing manager for Price Tower Arts Center.  “We invite folks to design a structure that will protect an egg during its drop from the 10th floor of Frank Lloyd Wright’s only realized skyscraper.”

Each structure should be built by the participants at home before the competition begins at 11 a.m. on July 9th.  The vessel that will hold the egg can be no larger than one square foot.  Complete rules can be picked up at Price Tower Arts Center.  They are also online at

“We feel the EGGstravaganza is a program that encourages creativity, imagination and problem solving.  It’s really a great, fun family activity,” said Cynthia Naylor, education coordinator for Price Tower Arts Center.

There are three groups in the competition:  kids 12 and under; teens and adults 13 and older and groups (such as families, corporate teams or church groups).  Prizes will be awarded in each category.  Awards will be for First Place, Best Design and an overall Biggest Splat Winner.

Participants are asked to register by July 8th for the EGGstravaganza.  Registration can be done in-person at Price Tower Arts Center at 510 Dewey Avenue in Bartlesville or by phone at 918.336.4949.  If you wish to register the day of the event, you will need to arrive no later than 10:30.  Young children (ages 5-7) will need to be accompanied by an adult when they drop their egg from the balcony.

Other events for the day will include fingerpainting with pudding, sidewalk chalk and a visit from the Bartlesville Fire Department.

Sponsors for the event include Eggbert’s and Bartlesville Radio.  More information on the Great Price Tower EGGstravaganza is available by calling 918.336.4949.
