GUTHRIE, OK, December 13, 2010 – Visitors to downtown historic Guthrie this weekend are invited to tour life in the 19th century as part of Guthrie’s annual Territorial Christmas Celebration.

“There is no other event in Oklahoma like Guthrie’s Territorial Christmas celebration,” Guthrie Chamber of Commerce President Mary Coffin said. “The town transforms from the 21st Century to the 19th Century. This year we are hosting the Victorian Walks and Candlelight Trolley Tours that are sure to take visitors back in time to the Victorian era.”

The Victorian Walks and Candlelight Trolley Tours will feature live window displays depicting life in 19th Century Guthrie, carolers, peanut vendors, and lights galore throughout the Historic District. Victorian Walks are available on Saturday, December 18 and Candlelight Trolley Tours are available at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays in December

Other Territorial Christmas Celebration activities include the production of an all-time best seller A Territorial Christmas Carol at The Pollard Theatre. A Territorial Christmas continues to dazzle audiences and play to sold-out houses into its twenty-third year. Adapted by gifted Oklahoma playwright, Stephen P. Scott, this version of Charles Dickens' classic tale of redemption and brotherly love is set in Guthrie in the days of the Oklahoma Land Run.
