SHAWNEE – Come one, come all!  The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is waiving the admission fees for the months of June, July and August 2011.

The free admission is made possible by the Ad Astra Foundation, Inasmuch Foundation, and Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores.  “We appreciate these generous donors who understand the importance of making fun educational activities available for families in these difficult economic times," explained Dane Pollei, MGMoA Director. “Last year, we tripled the number of visitors during our free admission time as the year previous.  This was a motivating factor in the donors being willing to donate a second year in a row.  They saw the need and wanted to fill it,” said Tonya Ricks, MGMoA Development Director.

The free admission will allow visitors to see Rembrandt Etchings: Fakes, States, and Restrikes which will be on exhibit until June 26, 2011.  In addition, the exhibit Wherever You Go: Maps from the Permanent Collection, will be free during its run July 8 through August 21, 2011.

The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is located on the campus of St. Gregory’s University, 1900 W. MacArthur St. in Shawnee.  The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Exhibitions are funded in part by the Inasmuch Foundation, Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, and Allied Arts.  For accommodations on the basis of disability or more information on this exhibit, call the museum at (405) 878-5300.
