Mayfest Seeks Young Area Artists
By Tourism Industry Partner
Tulsa, OK., March 2, 2011 – Mayfest organizers are asking students in the Tulsa area to submit artwork for the 2011 Youth Art Gallery. Students’ artwork will be on display during this year’s festival, May 19-22, in the Performing Arts Center LaFortune Studio.
The Youth Art Gallery will showcase the artwork of students grades K-12. Each student may submit one entry that has been completed within the 2010-2011 school year. Work that has been produced with commercial kits, prefabricated forms or other commercial methods is not allowed.
All students are eligible for cash prizes (3 in each age category). In addition, Mayfest is pleased to announce that the PSO Mark of Excellence Award ($500 cash) will again be available for one high school student for outstanding creativity and technique.
'Public Service Company of Oklahoma is pleased to continue to offer the PSO Mark of Excellence Award to a talented student artist, as well as be a sponsor of the Mayfest Youth Art Gallery,' said Carole Huff Hicks, Community Affairs Manager, PSO. 'The arts are an important component of Tulsa's vibrant quality of life and we value our partnership with Mayfest.'
Students attending private, public or home schools in the Tulsa area are invited to submit. Students can visit www.tulsamayfest.org to download a submission form, which needs to be completed and turned in with the artwork to the Performing Arts Center LaFortune Studio between 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12th.
