Tulsa, OK., April 19, 2011 – Tulsa International Mayfest is pleased to feature local artists throughout five indoor galleries at this year’s Festival, May 19th – 22nd, in addition to the many artists that will be selling their artwork along Main Street.  


The Invitational Gallery, a Mayfest tradition, will showcase the artwork of over 100 professional Tulsa area artists in the Williams Towers Lobby.  There will be an opening for the Invitational Gallery on Wednesday, May 18th, 6pm – 8pm.  Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling 918.582.6435 in advance or at the door the evening of the opening.  Drinks and hors d’oeuvres are included in the price of the tickets.  Original artwork for the 2011 Mayfest poster art will be auctioned and all artwork will be available for sale the evening of the opening.  Don’t miss a chance to get a sneak preview of the gallery and the opportunity to purchase a piece of original art while supporting the Tulsa art community.


The Youth Art Gallery, sponsored by Public Service Company of Oklahoma, will include approximately 500 pieces of artwork created by children in grades K-12.  The Youth Art Gallery will be located in the Performing Arts Center LaFortune Studio.  Hours will be 11am-6pm Thursday, May 19th – Saturday, May 21st and 11am-3pm on Sunday, May 22nd


The Center Gallery was added at Mayfest 2008 and features art created by clients of The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges.  The Center Gallery is sponsored by T.D. Williamson and will be in the lobby of the YMCA at 418 S. Main St.  The gallery will be open 11am-6pm Thursday, May 19th – Saturday, May 21st.


The “Green” Gallery: PaperView will showcase artwork created with reused, recycled and repurposed paper materials.  The gallery is sponsored by Waste Management and will be in the lobby of the Park Centre Building at 525 S. Main St.  On Thursday, May 19th there will be an opening party from 5-7 pm – the Gallery will be open from 11am-7pm on Thursday.  Be sure to stop by and visit with the artists.  Friday – Saturday, May 20th-21st, the gallery will be open from 11am-6pm and on Sunday, May 22nd, from 11am-3pm. 


New for 2011:  Art Bike Tulsa presented by SCFM Compression Systems, Inc.  The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will unveil, for the first time in Tulsa, ARTBIKE 2011, an installation of colorful, uniquely-designed bicycles, transformed by some of Tulsa's leading artists to bring awareness to the incurable, progressive disease of Multiple Sclerosis. ARTBIKE 2011 will be on display from May 5-June 1 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, and will be open 10am-5:30pm Thursday, May 19th – Friday, May 20th and Saturday, May 21st 5:30pm-10pm. 


Admission to the Mayfest galleries is free and open to the public.
