Oklahoma City - On Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 8:00pm, at the Civic Center Music Hall, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic welcomes legendary Japanese violinist Midori.

More than 20 years after her phenomenal debut at age 11 with the New York Philharmonic, Midori is renowned as an icon among violinists. Maestro Levine and the Orchestra open the spectacular evening with Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 and Mendelssohn's The Hebrides ("Fingal's Cave") followed by Midori, who perfoms Mendelssohn's romantic Violin Concerto in E minor.

Not only a virtuoso talent, Midori is also a celebrated educator worldwide having been named a Messenger of Peace by U.N. Secretary-General Ban-Ki-Moon in 2007.
