A special grand opening event will take place at the Bartlesville Area History Museum May 12th, 3:00-6:00 p.m. as the museum commemorates the history of Mom and
Pop grocery stores in Washington County. Volunteer Coordinator, Jo Crabtree said, “The focus of the exhibit is the evolution and development from General Stores to the neighborhood Mom and Pop’s over approximately seven decades.”

Special guest, retired grocer Mike Mnich, son of Gus Mnich, owner and founder of Minch’s Grocery Store in west Bartlesville, will be on hand to answer questions and speak about personal history in the grocery field.

The first part of the event will be your opportunity to view the exhibit, listen to 50’s music and share in the Moon Pies and RC Cola, courtesy of The Friends of the Bartlesville Area History Museum. The first 25 guests will receive a free loaf of bread donated by the Wonder Bread Company of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Join the staff in a salute to the many men and women, family members and employees, those ground-breaking, hard working individuals who provided for American families for so many years. The BAHM staff would like to say, “Thank you Mom and Pop’s for the memories!”

Join our celebration at 401 S. Johnstone-5th floor, for more information call 918-338-4290. This exhibit will be on display through October 2011.
