The Norman Arts Council will feature six individual artists between October 2011 and June 2012 as part of the new Individual Artist Project. These artists will submit proposals by September 2, 2011. One of the featured artists will be a Norman high school senior. Selected artists will receive a $600 honorarium for their project to be paid at the conclusion of the exhibit. All artists will be selected according to the guidelines for review by an independent panel of arts professionals from around the state of Oklahoma.

The works exhibited during the year can represent one of the following mediums: crafts, design, media arts, photography, and other visual arts. In future years, other mediums will be featured in order to expand the program.

All eligible artists must have resided in Norman, Oklahoma for at least one year, submit an exhibit proposal, submit a digital archive of previous work, and other than the high school senior artist, must be over the age of eighteen.

Proposal guidelines include an application form, approximately 6 – 8 proposed pieces in digital form, 15 previous works in digital form, and a personal and professional resume no longer than one page.

Application forms and all information are available online at<>. Completed applications may be mailed or delivered to the MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of the Norman Arts Council, 122 East Main Street, Norman, OK 73069.

The Individual Artist Award is provided in part by the Norman Transient Guest Room Tax.
